Question
|
How do I know the jewelry I
receive is the quality I purchased?
|
|
Answer
|
At Jewelplus.com, we
stand behind every item that
we sell. You can rest assured
that you'll receive the
value and product you expect or better!
We can also provide Appraisal Certificates
for any piece of jewelry
you desire for a fee.
Appraisal
Certificate is an estimate
of the approximate retail
replacement value of the jewelry,
which may be used for insurance
coverage or other purposes.
The appraisal certificate
contains valuable information,
such as:
An
accurate description
of each article of jewelry
being appraised
The
Color, Clarity, Carat weight
and Cut of the diamond
Type
of setting material (platinum,
gold, etc.)
Name
of independent laboratory
certification (GIA, EGL, AGS,
HRD or IGI), if applicable
Approximate
current retail replacement
market value (approx. 150%
of your purchased price)
Signature
of our appraiser gemologist
All loose diamonds are priced
based on the type of professional
grading report from well known
and well-respected independent
gemological laboratories such
as the Gemological Institute
of America (GIA) or European
Gemological Laboratory (EGL),
or we simply provide same
diamonds at lower price if
no certificate is required.
The Diamond Grading Report
is a complete evaluation of
your diamond, and basically
includes information on the
4Cs, including:
The
diamond's Color grade
The
diamond's Clarity grade
The
diamond's Carat weight
The
diamond's Cut quality (Please
Note: not all reports grade
cut)
An
evaluation of the diamond's
symmetry and polish
It
also may comment on the diamond's
fluorescence, girdle and culet,
which also affect its value
A grading report also includes
a diagram that maps the diamond's
inclusions. Since each diamond
is unique, the diagram acts
like a fingerprint to identify
that particular diamond. A
diamond can be compared to
its certificate by examining
it under a 10-power loupe.
Not all diamonds are certified
by gemological laboratories,
because generally speaking,
for most diamonds under a
specific weight, it is not
cost-effective to subject
such a small stone to the
stringent and costly grading
evaluation of an independent
gemological laboratory. This
can disproportionately increase
the cost of a smaller stone,
relative to its actual value.
It
is important to note that
a diamond grading report from
an independent laboratory
is NOT an appraisal, which
estimates the monetary value
of a particular stone. It
is simply an impartial, informed
opinion made by an experienced
gemologist. Should you have
any further questions regarding
appraisal reports, please Contact
us

you re-size rings, lengthen
bracelets, etc.? |

|
Question
|
My
finger size has changed over
time, can I have my local jeweler
re-size the ring that I purchased
from you some time ago? |
|
Answer
|
Yes. But please emphasize the
type of material (14k, 18k,
or platinum) to your jeweler
so that they do the job utilizing
the same base material as the
ring. Also if the ring is "Invisible
Setting" or "Tension
Setting" or any other kind
of specialized setting, please
make sure that the craftsman
is particularly experienced
and equipped to handle the re-sizing
job properly. You are always
most welcome to send your ring
to us and we will take care
of re-sizing it for you. |
|
Question
|
Are
you an authorized original
watch manufacturer dealer (such
as Rolex, Cartier, Omega, etc)? |
|
Answer
|
No, we are not authorized dealers for any
of the watch brands we sell. However, we work closely
with a network of authorized watch dealers and
buy all watches directly from them. This gives
us the freedom to price the watches at our own discretion.
If we were authorized dealers, we would be unable to offer
you the substantial discounts that we do.
Some watch brands are also purchased from authorized dealers as a
gray-market.
Many fine watch companies control the distribution
of their products by licensing a select few retail
outlets in each region to sell their products. And
they control the pricing structure as well, requiring
their authorized dealers to sell at or near the retail
price. The Internet has posed a special challenge to
fine watch manufacturers, who have been very reluctant
to allow their prestigious watches to be displayed on
websites, especially with discount prices advertised openly.
The homogenizing power of the Internet is sometimes viewed
as a threat to small specialty dealers, who operate in small
closed markets. So naturally, the watch companies would try
to protect their authorized dealers. |
|
Question
|
What
are "Gray-Market" Watches? |
|
Answer
|
Gray market watches are genuine watches from the original
manufacturer. They are not fakes or factory seconds. The
only thing that makes them different is that they passed
through an unauthorized dealer or reseller on the way to you.
There are many places where you can buy fine watches. The most
important concept to understand before making a purchase decision
is the difference between gray-market versus authorized dealers
and how that affects the price, and the warranty coverage of
a watch you purchase. All genuine Omega, Rolex and other fine watches
come from the maker's factory. The maker only sells them to authorized
dealers and distributors. To establish and maintain an authorized dealer
relationship and volume discounts, authorized dealers must make large
initial investments in inventory and continue to purchase minimum quantities
of watches over time. This can involve minimum initial and ongoing inventory
purchase requirements as high as USD 250,000 for a single dealer to carry
each major brand. For smaller dealers, this often forces them to purchase
more watches than they can sell directly to their customers and to hold
in inventory an excessive amount of merchandise of a single brand. So some
authorized dealers sell off at wholesale prices the surplus to the 'gray market'
of unauthorized dealers who then sell the watches at heavier discounts than
authorized dealers are allowed to. This is not explicitly illegal, but it usually
violates the authorized dealer or resellers agreements with the manufacturer.
Some gray market watches have had the serial number removed from the outside of
the case (but not the inside) to prevent the manufacturer from tracing it to the
authorized dealer that sold it to the gray market.
The manufacturers, to protect their authorized dealers from the heavier discount
offered to the consumer by the non-authorized dealers, refuse to provide in-warranty
service on these watches. For this reason we provide you with our own parts & labor
warranty on all watches purchased from us (unless stated otherwise on your invoice).
We have access to experienced watch craftsmen and facilities to maintain, repair and
restore brand-name wristwatches. We can supply all parts as needed during repair and
we place the highest emphasis on providing quality service, if at all necessary. |

Question
|
Can
I send my Rolex watch to you
to maybe add diamond or custom
bezel, or maybe replace dial,
or bracelet? |
|
Answer
|
Week-in & week-out, we receive
many Rolex watches from either
new or existing customers requesting
to add gold diamond (or other
gemstones) bezels, replace their
existing worn-out bracelets
with new diamond or plain gold
bracelets, exchange their old
dials with new diamond or plain
dials. Our normal turn-around
time is 2-7 days depending to
the complexity of the requested
part and inventory. When mailing
your watch, please insure and
ship it such that you have a
traceable shipping number. You
can either send via USPS registered
and insured mail (this is slow
but very safe and also almost
always less expensive than any
other shipping method) or by
UPS or FedEx which are more
expensive (be sure that you
can insure for full value).
Please Contact
us for more information. |

Question
|
I
am a little hesitant for sending
my expensive diamond/gold watch
or jewelry to you for the first
time. How can I be certain that
I will get it back as promised? |
|
Answer
|
We get this question asked "a
lot", either by emails or telephone
calls. Many of our first-time
customers also asked us the
very same question, and now
they are our regular customers
and do not hesitate for a moment
before sending any piece of
their jewelry or watch to us
for any enhancement, repair, or service
work. However way we try to
answer this question, there
will still be a slight and rather
bothering doubt in a first-time
customer's mind as to the validity
of our business practice and
honesty of our staff. We like
to direct you to the testimonials
section of our website. These
are among many of our satisfied
customers who we have had the
pleasure of serving. Many have
graciously offered to share
their contact information with
our new customers. Please let
us know if you like to contact
any of our existing customers
for reference, and we will be
more than happy to provide you
with their email addresses and/or
phone numbers. As you are well
aware, in jewelry business,
if a company does not do an
honest work and is not reputable,
most certainly it cannot stay
in-business for long and very
shortly it falls apart just
by number of unsatisfied, disappointed
and frustrated customers and
complaints. We provide quality
material/craftsmanship and also
provide you with our top of
the line quality 'post-sales"
service. We take pride in each
and every item that ships out.
Before shipping, the quality
is checked, and double checked,
and triple checked by our professional
staff. We provide quality items
as originally quoted and promised,
or MORE, but never less. |
|
Question
|
Can
I trade my Rolex watch for another
watch or piece of jewelry? |
|
Answer
|
Check with us, we might accept
trades based on the condition of the watch
and its value. In order to provide you
with a fair buy-back offer,
we would need to physically examine
the watch. Please
note that buy-backs are only
available with purchase of new
jewelry or watch priced same
or higher than our buy-back
offer. |
|
Question
|
Are
all the diamonds and other color
gemstones on the jewelries you
provide, laboratory certified? |
|
Answer
|
We can most certainly provide
laboratory certified (AIG, GIA, EGL, local labs, etc.)
loose stones, jewelry items, and diamond watches.
However there is an additional
cost involved in having the
stones certified. We do a lot of business with
AIG (American International Gemologists) Gem Laboratory.
Cost for AIG certification range anywhere from $100 to $200
depending to complexity of item being certified. GIA
certified stones normally are priced
roughly 20% more than uncertified
stones. EGL certified stones
are priced roughly 10% more
than uncertified stones. Having
the stones certified by our
local recognized laboratory
is the least expensive. Due
to costs and time involved in
having the stones certified,
in our experience based on customer
requests, we find that normally
people do not tend to request
certification for high grade
color gemstones, and for single
diamonds weighing 4ct. and less. |

Question
|
Top quality
flawless diamonds are EXPENSIVE. Are
there other less expensive alternatives
to diamonds? |
|
Answer
|
Yes there are. We recommend the following
alternatives: 1) Lab grown Russian Brilliants 2) Moissanite 3) Cubic Zirconia.
Laboratory grown Russian Brilliants were originally developed
for use in the Russian satellite optics program. They are hand-cut and come in different
shapes and sizes. With their brilliance and fire they possess many of the same
characteristics and optical properties of a natural diamond. They are very hard
and will cut glass! Russian Brilliants just look like a top quality flawless
diamond and cost roughly $280 per carat (for more accurate pricing please inquire about desired size). Moissanite, although relatively new, does resemble
a diamond. It usually has a yellowish tint. It has a silicon carbide composition.
Upon close examination, moissanite is usually identifiable. This is because silicon
carbide, in the manufacturing process becomes doubly refractive. The double refractive
index diminishes the illusion of being a natural diamond. The cost of this stone is
much higher than other man-made diamonds. Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is almost as briliant as diamond,
has even greater fire (which masks its lesser brilliance), and is relatively hard, giving it
good durability and wearability. However, unlike a naturally formed diamond, CZ components are
purer and the molecules gather in ideal conditions. Couple this with an unsophisticated
machine cut manufacturing process and you arrive at the standard cubic zirconia stone.

Question
|
Gem-quality,
flawless color gemstones such
as Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires,
etc. are very expensive. Are
there other less expensive alternatives
to natural color gemstones? |
|
Answer
|
Yes there are. If slight inclusions
and imperfections are acceptable
to you, you can then purchase
a high quality, top grade (AAA)
color gemstone which is less
expensive than "Gem-Quality"
gemstone. Another alternative
is "Chatham Created Gems".
These are NOT simulates or imitations.
They are gemstones possessing
the exact same chemical & optical
properties as their naturally
occurring counterparts; the
EXACT same elements and the
EXACT same chemical composition.
